Steeped in history, JTAPE have been an independently owned family-business, proudly serving global automotive and industrial markets with precision, performance, and reliability since 2003.
The birth of JTAPE
JTAPE’s founder, Oliver Jevons, first discovered the masking challenges faced by paint specialists whilst working for the family automotive adhesives business. Having experienced these issues firsthand, he began devising innovative solutions tailored to the needs of professionals. His first patented product, the Advanced Foam Masking Tape, signalled the birth of JTAPE.
JTAPE launches No Edge Blending Tape
In 2004, JTAPE revolutioniszed automotive refinishing with the launch of our first Blending Tape, No Edge Blending Tape. Designed for seamless paint transitions, this innovation combined precision with efficiency, enabling automotive professionals to deliver high quality finishes to a smaller section of a vehicle, often known as spot or smart repairs.
Award winners with Advanced Foam Masking Tape
JTAPE earned its first industry accolade in Japan, winning Best New Body Shop Product for its Advanced Foam Masking Tape. This prestigious recognition reinforced our commitment to innovation and quality, demonstrating that our masking solutions meet the demands of automotive refinish and collision repair professionals worldwide.
JTAPE launches Primeshield
JTAPE launched Primeshield, a smart solution for masking gaps that require priming. Designed to prevent rework from excess primer build-up on panel edges, it’s easy to apply and adjust, allowing paint professionals to improve efficiency and overall finish, while spending less time masking.
JTAPE USA is born
JTAPE USA was established as a key step in expanding our global presence. With ambitions to grow the brand across the US, we committed to employing dedicated sales personnel and opening a US-based warehouse, ensuring efficient stock availability and service to support the increased demand for JTAPE products in this market.
JTAPE now exports to over 60 countries
JTAPE’s global reach continues to grow, now exporting to over 60 countries worldwide. With an expanding international presence, JTAPE ensures that our specialist masking solutions are accessible in multiple markets and sectors across the globe.
JTAPE exhibits at first trade show
JTAPE made its trade show debut at AutoEquip 2003, introducing its specialist masking solutions to the automotive industry. This milestone marked our first step into the global market, forging connections and establishing JTAPE as a brand dedicated to innovation, precision, and solving real-world challenges for industry professionals .
JTAPE’s first dedicated production facility
Until now, JTAPE had manufactured and hand-wound our foam tape in Macclesfield, Cheshire. Following rapid growth, a dedicated production facility was needed. The business relocated to a small production facility in the nearby village of Goostrey, with just Oliver, one employee and two machines.
JTAPE relocates to a larger production facility
By 2010, JTAPE required even more space to keep up with demand. The business returned to its roots in Macclesfield, this time with a workforce of over twenty employees and ten purpose-built production lines.
JTAPE further expands manufacturing facility
JTAPE’s manufacturing facility expanded by 40%, marking a major step in our growth. This investment enhanced JTAPE’s production and stock holding capabilities, streamlined operations, and reinforced our ability to meet the demands of the diverse global markets we serve.
JTAPE launches Flexi No Edge Blending Tape
Reinforcing our commitment to smarter, more efficient masking solutions, JTAPE expanded our range of Blending Tapes; adding Flexi No Edge Blending Tape. Delivering enhanced masking flexibility, versatility, and precision, it creates a feathered paint finish, making it ideal for spot or smart repairs.
Further expansion of our UK facility
JTAPE has recently acquired an adjacent building, meaning we continue to remain close to our roots, with our UK manufacturing, warehousing, and office facilities all operating out of a single site in Macclesfield. This expansion has strengthened our production and stock capabilities, while maintaining centralized operations, ensuring we can efficiently meet the growing global demand for our products.
